Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

Or Else is a service operated by Lilac Labs LLC, a Virginia limited liability company, doing business as Or Else. By accessing or using Or Else, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or use Or Else. By using the service, you represent and warrant that you satisfy this eligibility requirement.

3. Service Description

Or Else allows you to create self-imposed goals with financial consequences. You designate a stake amount for a goal. If you fail to complete the required check-in by the applicable deadline, your saved payment method may be charged.

4. Charges and Authorization

By adding a payment method and creating goals, you authorize Or Else to initiate off-session charges for missed deadlines in accordance with your configured goals. Charge timing and amount are determined by your selected goal settings (including period, value, and deadline). Or Else will stop initiating missed-deadline charges for a goal after five (5) consecutive missed charge events for that goal without a check-in in between.

5. Refund Requests

Charges are generally final. Or Else may, in its sole discretion, provide limited exception refunds to support fairness and accountability, up to five (5) refunds per user account lifetime. Refund requests must be submitted by email within seven (7) days of the applicable charge. Submission of a request does not guarantee approval.

6. Payment Processing

Payment processing is provided by Stripe. Or Else does not store full payment card numbers or card security codes.

7. Account Deletion

You may delete your account in the app or request deletion by emailing support@orelse.app. Account deletion removes your goals, check-in history, and proof photos from active systems, subject to legal, security, payment, and backup retention requirements. Deletion of an account does not automatically reverse or void charges already processed, except where required by law or approved under Section 5.

8. User Content

Photos you submit as check-in evidence remain your property. By submitting them, you grant Lilac Labs LLC a limited license to store and display them back to you within the app.

9. Goal Deletion

You may delete eligible goals in the app. Goal deletion removes that goal, its check-in history, and associated proof photos from active systems, subject to legal, security, payment, and backup retention requirements. Deleting a goal does not reverse charges already processed.

10. Paused Goals

After five (5) consecutive missed charge events for a goal without a check-in in between, that goal may be marked paused and no further missed-deadline charges will be initiated for that paused goal unless reactivated.

11. Disclaimer of Warranties

The service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Or Else shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the service.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, without regard to conflict of laws rules.

14. Changes to Terms

We may revise these Terms from time to time. Continued use of Or Else after revised Terms become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
